Hi! Let me introduce myself; I’m Davide Olla, I’m from Italy (Sardinia). I draw since I have memory. As a child I used to draw some sort of “comics” with stories inspired by Resident Evil or Final Fantasy (my favourites videogames along with Pokémon and super Mario). I always taked for granted to know approximately how to draw, and I never truly deepened the knowledge of that.
Only a few years ago I decided to take classes and courses. Thanks to my sister I found the love for the pastels, she brought me some oil and soft pastels from Brighton and I totally becomed obsessed.

What do I draw?
I mainly draw animals. I love them and they’re my inspiration. I like to fuse my feelings or recall what I feels in my (unfortunately) tough life with animals or the environment. I try to dig in the human brain and thouhgs and translate the cognitive and psychological stuff that appends in the Human brain via the animals in my drawings

“Nightmare” is an example: I tried to recall how devastated I felt when the person I loved left me few years ago and literally destroyed my heart. The armor of the horse and the anthropomorphic and painful aspects rappresent the opression and painful feeling of impotence in loosing someone you will never be able to have back, and can’t do anything about it. like for the horse the armor the feeling of bring imprisoned by memories and idealised thouhgs and not be able to get rid of them is opressive and is hurting as well. The roses rappresent the love and passion.

As most of the artists, I like often to take melancholic emotions and put them on the paper.

But I also like to cherish what’s good in life! And usually I make little artworks of the dogs of a shelter where I’m a volunteer, for example! Or like this drawing to cherish friendship, love and ecc.
How I draw?
I use Pastels combined with Leenseed or Poppy oil to get that oil painting touch, I also prefer use my fingers instead. I then use pencils for details. I also use charcoal in combination of oil Pastels, it gives a strange drak effect. When I make chiaroscuro I use B pencils of course, and charcoal and fineliner when I want a pop effect. For the papers I use Windsor and Newton’s papers or pourus or coloured papers in base of the kind of effect I want with Pastels.

Not only drawings
I love art in 360 angle. I’ve made theatre courses and took part in some local plays too! I also love to craft scenaray stuff with recycled materials.

I also cooperated in the construction of part of the scenographic staff with recycled materials.
Let’s build something together!
