Watercolour

Lately, thanks to the lessons, I rediscovered how beautiful (and relaxing) watercolour are.

Usually I use Canson watercolour papers (300gr) and Windsor & Newton’s godets, and a 18/16 size brush (the bigger it is the more precise it’ll be), not to much expensive sets and the godets are student quality but they do their work!

Here how usually my workspace is.

I usually sketch a drawing in a sketch book and then I copy it the overhead projector or if I must copy another precise image, by directly putting the printed paper (and resized if necessary).

I do so because I don’t use erasers in the watercolour papers, they ruins the surface and then the colours spreads awfully.

I work so hard on the layers, I spend hours slowly darkening the colour, being sure to leave whites be otherwise the painting becomes flat.

It may appear boring but is quite relaxing especially with some good music (is metal considered relaxing?) and a cup of chocolate or tea.

I also have the honour to have my cutty Hope always on my thighs when I’m home!

After I’m finished shading I use fineliner, BIC pens, and graphite pencil to give extra shading and contour having a lovely illustration.

Maybe in the future I’ll dedicate more time to watercolour, I just love the effect it gives (and I love how can watercolour relaxes me)
